Saint Guénolé, the famous fishing port of the southern Finistère, in the heart of the country Bigoudun is represented here in the background by Schürr in his usual touch. The port comes in the background, ahead of bigoudènes with their traditional headdress the highest in Brittany. The small bay of Saint Guénolé is seen here from the no less famous chapel of Notre Dame de la Joie, in a soft light.
