A semi pointillist style painted work by the Frisian artist Simon Kamminga.
Origin: private collection from the Netherlands.
Condition: Good original condition
Simon Kamminga was born in Harlingen in 1895. At school he stood out with his drawing talent. From his home town in the Bildt, Kamminga went into the surrounding area to make sketches of the North Frisian landscape, which he worked out at home in paintings, watercolours and gouaches.
That Kamminga was gifted can be seen from his award-winning work Tongerfleagen. He painted the roaring bull in 1927. It became an iconic work, which was exhibited in the Frisian Museum and participated in the exhibition Salut au monde, a retrospective of Frisian art and work of then international young artists who were inspired by the Frisian landscape.
