Beautiful and rare work of Arduino Colato depicting:
"the Cathedral of Santa Maria Matricolara of Verona.
In a good condition despite its age;
(I did not find anything on the net regarding a painting of this monument)
Arduino Colato, was born on 17th November 1880 in Verona, (Italy), and died in Paris on 1st February 1954
He was a painter who, upon his arrival in Paris in 1900, met and befriended the greatest painters, including:
Picasso, Douanier Rousseau, Matisse etc... because he had for neighbour the very famous
Mrs. Gertrude Stein (1874-1946), rue de Fleurus in the 6th arrondissement of Paris.
Colato exhibited his works and found relative success in the independent artists exhibitions
from 1924 to 1931 and in 1937.
- 13 of his works are listed on Artnet, Arcadja, Artvalue, etc...
This painting comes from the artist’s studio leftover which I own.
