1/6 plate Daguerreotype, of a small boy on a chair, in a so called 'Union Case'
A Union Case is a compressed cassette made out of Shellac a sawdust.

Condition: The case shows signs of wear, but very little, it has no cracks or missing parts. The hinges and the locking system work fine. The Suede on the inner side has a smal part missing.
The Daguerreotype looks really sharp, with nice tones. It has oxidation on the edges where it meets the Mat. Small Mold spiders can be seen when examined closely.
