Hofner Club (1965)
The Hofner Clubs are known as relatively small, beautiful lightweight guitars. Introduced in 1953 and sold in Europe by Selmer (London) from 1955 on. After 1961, sales fell due to the changing consumer taste to a preferably "red solid body".
This Hofner Club began its life as Club 40 (1 pickup) or Club 50 (2 pickups).
The serial number (7969) shows that the guitar comes from 1965 and is delivered by van Wouw (Amsterdam), which supplied Hofners to the Dutch market.
Although it had a lot of work done over the years, it still plays, sounds (and intonates!) great. Everything works properly.
The Hofner Club was the first electric guitar John Lennon possessed. Later, it was loaned to Paul McCartney for a while, after which Lennon sold it and the guitar was never recovered.
In addition to John Lennon, George Harrison, Rotchie Blackmore and David Gilmour also opted for a Hofner Club.
