Johannes Mattheus (Job) Graadt van Roggen was born in Amsterdam on 28 May 1867 and died in Alkmaar on 26 August 1959.
Since the age of 12, he was at the Academie Minerva in Groningen. He attended the national academy for fine arts in Amsterdam from 1884-1889.
Was considered to belong to the Bergens School. (stayed for a long time in Bergen N-H).
He was a pupil of, among others, August Allebé and was taught by, among others, Ben Essers.
Member of Arti et Amicitiae, St. Lucas and De Grafische.
